The Catello D'Auria Company, after having been appreciated for its activity in Naples, moved its activity to Rome in 1894, opening a glove and stockings maker shop in Via Due Macelli 55. Since its establishment the shop is located in the historical Propaganda Fide palace in front of the Salone Margherita Theatre, dealing in the same trade since with success. The heirs, who run the shop at present, work in the greatest respect of tradition and always following fashion's latest trends. Nothing has changed since 1894; the original furniture, amongst which some remarkable precious pieces, can still be admired today. For this reason the shop is often referred to in national and international publications, and the European Institute of Design of Rome recently issued a volume of plates illustrating it as part of the Council's intervention on the city's historical center. The shop is open non-stop from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm (closed on Monday morning) and is available to its Italian and foreign clients for orders by post.
